Classic Picnic Macaroni Salad

Picnic Macaroni Salad and backyard barbecues are a match made in heaven. Make this dish in advance so the flavors can blend and you can focus on the grill.

Ingredients
8 ounces Golden Grain® Elbows
3/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard (optional)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup sliced celery
1 cup chopped green or red pepper
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Directions
1Cook pasta according to package directions; drain well and set aside to cool.
2Combine mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, sugar, salt, and pepper in a large bowl; stirring well.
3Add cooked pasta, celery, peppers, and onion. Toss well to coat pasta and vegetables with dressing. Cover and chill to blend flavors.
4If desired, top with breadcrumbs immediately before serving.
Cook’s Tip: Don’t leave pasta salads with mayonnaise out of the refrigerator for too long. Add a can of tuna to increase the protein and add a new flavor.

16 oz Golden Grain Large Elbow Macaroni
3 stalks celery, finely chopped
1/2 red onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup sweet pickle relish
1 1/4 cups mayonnaise
2 Tbsp prepared mustard
Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain. Rinse with cold water and place in a large salad bowl.
Stir celery, red onion and pickle relish into pasta.
Stir together mayonnaise and mustard; pour dressing over pasta mixture and stir to combine.
Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate for several hours.
Tips:
If desired, slice 2 or 3 fully-cooked hot dogs crosswise into 1/2-inch slices, or cut 1 cup smoked cocktail-size sausages in half and add to the salad.
If desired, stir in 3/4 cup shredded carrots.
If desired, stir in 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

I agree with Trina. Years ago we bought your pasta in plastic bags. On the back of the bag it had your recipe for Classic Macaroni salad. My recollection was your macaroni, celery, pimento and their may have been other things? Delicious, and a great childhood memory! Please send this recipe to me as well. Thank you,

I agree with Trina. Years ago we bought your pasta in plastic bags. On the back of the bag it had your recipe for Classic Macaroni salad. This is delicious. I am seeking the recipe, that was on the back of the box of Golden Grain Elbow Noodles years ago. That is the Classic Macaroni Salad recipe I am seeking. However, I did prepare the Classic Macaroni Salad recipe you sent to me and it is delicious. If you still have that recipe from the back of the Golden Grain Elbow Noodles box from many many many years ago, please do sent it to me.

I am also seeking the recipe for the macaroni salad on the back of the salad style pasta . I remember it having a small can of chopped black olives and either 1/4 or 1/3 cup of marinara sauce as well.
